PROJECT OVERVIEW

Our iconic We the People preamble has traveled across the country and has appeared at major civic gatherings and public events since 2007. Citizens from communities across the nation have signed their names on the scroll as a visible commitment to our Constitution.

 

The section of the scroll designated for signatures has now grown to nearly 700 feet in length — and continues to expand as more communities add their names. Your city/town/state will contribute to that growing national testament.

The ultimate vision:

To unite signed sections from across the country into one massive Constitutional Scroll to be displayed in Washington, D.C. on July 4th, 2026.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW:

OUR VISION:

Mobilize a We the People march, rally, and People's Summit in Washington DC, celebrating 250 years of struggle toward a vision for a truly just, democratic, and sustainable future.

This is an opportunity to not merely oppose the Trump regime; it is an opportunity to reconnect America and rally for a progressive vision for the future.

Backbone Campaign's giant - and growing - We the People banner will serve as the centerpiece of the American people’s resilience and resistance to fascism.

OUR PLAN:

Through appearances in LA, Chicago, Seattle, DC, Philadelphia, Madison, and most recently Minneapolis, our giant We the People banner became a unifying symbol inspiring millions of Americans in the streets and through social and print media.

Leading up to the July 4th events in DC, Backbone will tour three copies of the We the People banner to at least 18 host cities across the country. Each city will display and add new signatures and sections to this revered icon of our movement.

Gathering in DC on July 4th, 2026, the Preamble will carry hundreds of thousands of signatures, and a combined length of up to 1,000 feet as it parades through our nation’s capital.

HOW YOU CAN PARTNER WITH US:

We are inviting trusted leaders and organizations to help co-create this nation-wide experience.

Partners may:

• Host the preamble at an event
• Co-sponsor a regional stop
• Provide volunteers or logistical support
• Offer educational programming tied to the Constitution
• Help amplify the message across networks
• Join the statewide planning committee

This is an opportunity to collaborate across movements and communities.

STRUCTURE AND NEXT STEPS: 

To successfully execute this project, we are building:

• Statewide Host Teams
  • Core planning, scheduling, logistics, and coordination.
• Regional Travel Teams
  • Volunteers willing to transport the scroll and serve as on-site leads.
• Training & Activation Teams
  • Individuals who can equip host organizations with materials, messaging, and guidance so they can confidently lead local events.
• Event & Timeline Development
  • Identifying key dates, anchor events, and regional partners.
